List of Insurance Companies in Nigeria

In order to shore up the capital base of Nigerian Insurance companies and ensure that the companies have sufficient financial muscle to play their roles in the companies, the Nigerian Insurance Commission recently increased the capital base of the insurance companies as follows: Life Insurance Business N2 billion, General Insurance Business, N3 billion and Reinsurance N10 billion.  The new capitalization took effect on 1st of September 2005 for new and intending companies and 28th of February 2007 for existing companies.  As a result of this reform, the number of insurance companies in Nigeria reduced dramatically due to mergers and acquisitions between the companies in order to meet the new capital base.  Please click on the link for the latest and greatest list of licensed insurance companies in Nigeria.

    I read in the Vanguard Newspaper of January 30, 2009 that a UK insurance firm called Malet Insurance Services UK Ltd., is set to commence provision of integrated insurance services in Nigeria. I searched for the name and address of this insurance company via internet but could not find it. It shows in the newspaper that the insurance has an office too in Nigeria, Malet insurance services limited in Nigeria. Is it possible someone helps me with the address, email, and website of this company for my direct contact. Thanks and best regards
